Chabad emissaries to Baltimore City are presented with Honorary Key to the city. In January, 1930 the late Chabad grand Rebbe, Rabbi Joseph Isaac Schneerson visited the city of Baltimore and its Jewish community. While here the Rebbe was received by Mayor Broening at a special reception in City Hall. The Mayor was scheduled to present the Rebbe with an Honorary Key to Baltimore but instead gave him an autographed history of the City. On the eightieth anniversary city officials make good on an old pledge.
